Krishna Prasad Dahal elected Council Member of the ICAEW

London – Krishna Prasad Dahal, a Senior Chartered Accountant based in London, has been elected as Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), for the period of four years effective from 2025.
He will be among the 125 global Council members and the first Nepalese citizen to serve on this esteemed body.
In this role, he will be representing the Audit and Assurance Faculty, continuing his commitment to excellence in this key area of the accounting profession.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is an apex professional accounting professional body that inherits the world’s richest technical resources in the area of accounting and finance.
ICAEW promotes, develops and supports Chartered accountants and students around the world. As of December 2023, it has over 208,000 members and students in 146 countries. ICAEW was established by a British Royal Charter in 1880.
The Institute is also a founder member of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW), an international network of accountancy bodies which represents over 1.8 million members and students in more than 190 countries.
Mr Dahal’s election to the ICAEW comes at a time when the globalisation of business operations, growing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) expectations, and the increasing complexity of data are reshaping the audit landscape. Moreover, transformative technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) are revolutionising audit methodologies, making traditional approaches less effective.
“In this rapidly changing environment, I am passionate about contributing to the transformation of our profession. By addressing key imperatives such as enhancing audit quality, leveraging data analytics, and adopting innovative methodologies, I believe we can better align with emerging trends while maintaining the core principles of our work,” said Mr Dahal.
“I am committed to fostering regular dialogue with audit leaders and stakeholders to ensure our strategies and programmes reflect both current realities and future challenges. My goal is to drive initiatives that explore new technologies, refine audit approaches, and align practices with the evolving expectations of businesses and regulators,” said Mr Dahal, adding “I aim to create forward-looking solutions that not only address emerging trends but also empower auditors to thrive in an increasingly complex environment.”
Mr Dahal has served as Chairman of the UK Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Chair of ACCA – Harrow Network Panel. He is Managing Partner of Focus Somar Audit & Tax Accountants UK as well as Ballards Newman, Chartered Accountants.
