Nepali Army Day Marked with Grand Reception in London


London, 26 February – On the occasion of the 262nd Nepali Army Day, the Embassy of Nepal hosted a reception at its premises. The event saw the presence of General Sir Roly Walker, the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, H.E. Mr Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom, and over 150 distinguished guests, including London-based Defence Attachés from friendly countries, government officials, military officers, media personnel, and members of the Nepali diaspora.
In his address, Ambassador Ghimire reflected on the illustrious history and enduring legacy of the Nepali Army. He emphasised its crucial role in safeguarding Nepal’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests while also recognising its unwavering commitment to global humanitarian efforts. He further highlighted the unique tradition of the Gurkhas serving in the British Army, a bond that has strengthened ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom for over two centuries.
Expressing gratitude to the British Government for its continued support, the Ambassador acknowledged the longstanding association between the Nepali and British armies.
General Sir Roly Walker, the Chief Guest of the evening, expressed his deep appreciation for the enduring partnership between the Nepali and British armies. He commended the Nepali Army’s dedication, loyalty, and professionalism and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration and cooperation in the future.

Military Attaché Colonel Anup Shah
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Military Attaché Colonel Anup Shah paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Nepali Army throughout history. He also provided an overview of its significant contributions to global peacekeeping, training exercises, humanitarian missions, and development initiatives.
The event featured captivating video clips showcasing the Nepali Army’s activities, offering attendees an insightful glimpse into its remarkable achievements.
