IAACP Announces a Global Celebration of Art, Poetry, and Music Event

London – During the Universal Peace Federation UK’s Annual Peace Council meeting held on 7 December in London, the newly appointed Chair of the International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace (IAACP), Dr Sangita Swechcha, announced an inspiring event titled “Canvas of Cultures: A Celebration of Art, Poetry, and Music”.

Scheduled for 25 January 2024, this programme will bring together a remarkable array of artists, poets, and musicians to celebrate the unifying power of creativity across cultures.

Speaking at the event, Dr Swechcha expressed her enthusiasm for the new role, saying: “It is an honour to stand before you, united in our shared mission to harness the power of the arts to promote peace, understanding, and harmony. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Universal Peace Federation – UK for entrusting me with this role, which I embrace with great enthusiasm and commitment.”

The Canvas of Cultures event will feature:

Voices on Canvas: Artist Conversations

P. Singh, an international artist showcasing the richness of Nepali art and culture.

Amina Art Ansari, a celebrated Pakistani artist whose two paintings are part of a special collection at Windsor Castle commemorating Her Majesty the Queen’s Jubilee.

Rhoslyn Singh, a 20-year-old UPF Young Achiever who hails from Nepal, whose art works reflect a unique blend of British and European influences.

Poetry Session

Shahd Karaeen, a poet, activist, and advocate from Palestine, whose evocative words capture resilience and her commitment to peace.

Dr Rupak Shrestha, a Nepali poet drawing inspiration from Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.

Nayeema Mahjoor, a journalist, fiction writer and poet from India whose verses focus on themes of unity and shared humanity.

Musical Performance

The event will culminate with a performance by Italian opera singer Marisa Di Muro, whose voice transcends boundaries and celebrates the universal language of music.

“This event embodies the transformative power of the arts in fostering dialogue, empathy, and peace,” said Dr Swechcha. “I warmly invite the public to join us on this extraordinary journey of creativity and culture. Details about the venue and how to register will be announced soon”, she added.

The IAACP, operating under the umbrella of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), is a global network committed to promoting peace and unity through various forms of artistic expression, including music, dance, fine arts, film, and literature.
