Over 380 runners take part in the Northolt 10 K Run
London— Over 380 runners took part in the Northolt 10K Run organised by Nepal Run at Nathala Park in north-west London on Sunday, 27th October.
Nepal’s legendary marathon runner and Olympian Baikuntha Manandhar, Mayor of Dharan municipality of Nepal, Hark Sampang, and Labour MP for Ealing North James Murray also joined the event as special guests.
“Nepal Run aims to raise awareness on the importance of health and well being and encourage people to get healthier through running activities in our community,” said Santosh Rai, coordinator of Nepal Run. “We aim to lead by example through our running campaign.”
Students and Marshalls affiliated to Nepal Run volunteered during the Run. Tailwalkers, Sara and Michelle congratulated all the runners for their participation. Michelle, who lives locally, said it was heartening to see members of Nepali community coming together and helping each other. Sara Howe, who is a regular in the Satruday’s Park Run and lives locally, said she could not run this year but enjoyed tailwalking ‘on such a lovely day.’
The proceeds from the Run will be donated to the ‘High Altitude Training Camp’ being constructed by Mr Manandhar in Jumla, west Nepal, and also to the Gurkha Welfare Trust, the organisers said.
A-Star Financial Solutions – a London-based financial services specialist company- was the main sponsor of the event.
