A Star Nepalese Basketball: DBS Triumphs Again in the Third Season

London- The A-Star NBUK 3rd Season Playoff Finals, organised by the Nepal Basketball Association, concluded with a thrilling victory for DBS from Hayes and Harlington, marking their second consecutive championship win. The team showcased remarkable skill and determination, solidifying their dominance in the league.

The league started on 21 January 2024, and spanned 14 weeks, featuring 11 competitive teams battling for the top spot. After 11 weeks of league play, 3 weeks of playoffs, DBS and Greenford knights were in the finals.

Ayush Singh’s exceptional performance throughout the season earned him both the Finals MVP and League MVP titles, highlighting his pivotal role in DBS’s success.

The event paid tribute to former Nepalese national basketball players, celebrating their contributions to the sport. Honorees included Manoj Sherchan, Ayush Singh, Binod Shrestha, Amir Ghale, and Nirmal Gurung.

The event was proudly sponsored by A-Star, Ball Driven, Nepal Foods, Gurkha Construction, Hayes Nepalese Centre, and Shilas Kitchen, demonstrating strong community and business support for the league.


The finals were graced by several distinguished guests, including Ram Babu Nepal, Prem Gaha Magar, Bishnu Gurung, Lacchya Gurung, Chitra Bahadur Gurung, Sita Pun, and representatives from the TamuDhee Association. Adding to the event’s excitement, celebrities such as Tejan Gurung (who ascended 13 peaks), Ashik Gurung (film star, Farki Farki), Pradip Gurung (film star, Hero Panti 2), and Aizen were in attendance.

Special recognition was given to Dipesh Bishowkarma, a dedicated wheelchair athlete who excels in wheelchair basketball, showcasing the inclusive spirit of the league.

The event was hosted by Sirjana Gurung. The A-Star NBUK continues to grow, fostering a vibrant community and celebrating excellence in basketball.
